About me

James Jennings completed his bachelor of music in Perth at the University of Western Australia with Paul Wright in 1994 before continuing his study of baroque violin at the Royal Conservatory in the Hague with Ryo Terakado where he obtained his diploma in 2000. For four years he studied instrumental technique, pedagogy and participated in orchestra sessions with numerous guest conductors including Philippe Herreweghe, William Christie and Sigiswald Kuijen. In 2001 he moved to Tours in the Loire valley of France and has worked with numerous ensembles in France including Les Talens Lyriques, Le Concert d’Astrée, Le Parlement de Musique as well as in Tours with l’Ensemble Jacques Moderne and L’Ensemble Phillidor.
He founded his own ensemble in 2004 Ensemble Marini with the aim of exploring the baroque string and vocal repertoire.
